First things first, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I am always curious when the best time to stop saying that is. Obviously, today is not it {wink}. Since it will take me the entire week to remember to write 2017 instead of 2016...I figure why not just write out 2016 a few more times to get it out of my system, right?!

When a new year turns over, everyone suddenly becomes very pensive about their lives and what they plan to do or not do in the new year.

I like to think that I am a bit different in that I am always thinking and analyzing and re-analyzing and re-thinking, but particularly this last year has shown itself to be an interestingly crazy time.

Throughout 2016 I realized my personal photography was not as much of a forethought as I would have liked for it to be, among many other parts of my life. I learned that balance doesn’t exist in a pure form, but rather is something that you have to consciously focus on. It is truly committing time to what is important in all areas of your life and cutting out the noise.

I found that growing two small businesses and keeping two toddlers alive and happy is TONS harder than I ever could have ever imagined.

Both my personal and professional lives in 2016 have seen such wonderful and empowering moments and then many that were not so much. When I really sit back and observe my life in 2016, there were so many triumphs that I didn’t allow myself the time to enjoy. I am sure I am not alone.

So what’s the take home point of all of this?

Two things:

{DO WHAT MAKES YOUR HEART HAPPY.} All of the other stuff will fall into place when peace at heart comes over you. I learned in 2016 what those un-fun, creativity-stunting, and passive moments are for me. Now that I know, I can focus on how to propel them into their next level. The saying goes ‘Surround yourself with positivity…’ or something to that effect. Well it’s the same for passion. Fill yourself with a passion and it will drive you to levels unseen.

{LET GO.} I can’t even begin to mention all of the barriers of that I have allowed to hold me back. I won’t allow it this year, though. I was watching something one day on television and Cher, yes...that Cher, said something that her mother told her when she was at a certain age. That something was this…”If it won’t matter in 5 years, don’t spend more than 5 minutes on it.” Talk about powerful. I decided to take this and absorb it. Many things happen over the course of a day that hold our hearts and minds captive...and they won’t matter in the overall scheme of what’s truly important. So let it go, allow yourself space to mess up and grow. You will thank yourself later!

...now take a deep breath and steal a peek at some of my most favorite-ist images of 2016...and be on the lookout for some amazing things from this side of the interwebs! 😉
